Our pupils’ personal development requires much more than just academic instruction. We ensure that our pupils are closely monitored and supervised through tutorials and an orientation service staffed by specialists.
Our educational model involves adopting an innovative approach to our work, giving importance not only to educational content but also to procedures and methodologies. All our teachers belong to Learning Communities centred on diverse methodologies and thematic areas that we identify as cutting-edge at any given moment from an educational perspective. These are dynamic teams, as when each one of the methodologies has been studied, applied and integrated within the classroom, the teams are replaced by others that address new subjects to investigate, develop and apply.
We firmly believe that excellent outcomes are achievable without leaving anyone behind, and our academic results, as well as the various accolades received, testify to this. This is only feasible when the aim is to develop competencies though the closest possible cooperation between pupils, their families and teaching staff.
The location of the ikastola allows students to leave the urban environment and enjoy the contact with nature. Over 6,200 m2 of indoor sports facilities, 20,400 m2 of outdoor sports facilities, indoor swimming pool, specialised robotics classrooms, laboratories, etc.
Our Educational Model is rendered possible by the ongoing effort made in improving our organisational management. This is reflected in the numerous quality awards we have been given: Silver Q (2001), Gold Q (2003), and the European Quality Award (2007), amongst others.
Our pupils’ development requires paying very close attention to the integration of new technologies in education. Hence the reason that at Lauaxeta we have a team dedicated to Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) that is made up of staff from an array of different backgrounds (e.g., teaching, information technology, and communications), whose remit is to define and manage the best way of implementing these new technologies at each stage of the pupils’ schooling.
